DRIMS in Chiba

Field test was conducted on a 13km ordinary road in Chiba city, Japan. Three rental cars were tested to experimentally validate the performance of DRIMS. For each vehicle, one sensor module was installed on the left side of the dashboard. During the test, all of the vehicles ran on the left lane.  The profile estimation accuracy was examined by comparing the estimates with a reference obtained by a laser profiler.

The results are shown in the following, the upper figure is the comparison of the three vehicles with the laser profiler. The lower figure is the driving speeds of the three vehicles. It can be seen that the estimated road profiles by DRIMS are consistent with the reference value in spite of the drive speed changes and vehicle stops.

The repeatability of the road profile estimation is examined by repeated drive tests with Pixis. The result of IRI shows good agreement even though the drive speeds of the three tests are clearly different.
